Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is a treatment that manipulates the soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia) of the body for a specific therapeutic effect. It is a deep massage to create conditions the body needs to return to normal health after injury or to treat musculoskeletal disorders. A Remedial massage is designed to increase blood and lymph flow so that the healing process begins at a cellular level.

As a Remedial massage therapist I will treat the body holistically, tracing the issue as far back as possible to its original cause. This enables healing not only of the symptoms but of the cause of the problem.

A Remedial massage consists of different massage techniques and movements according to the client’s needs and response to treatment. The application of appropriate pressure into the soft tissues is a significant part of the massage and is carried out with good communication between therapist and client. Remedial massage should work within the client’s comfortable pain threshold.

Although Remedial massage aims to fix an issue/injury rather than solely to relax the client, it is seen to improve sleep and increase mobility.

Based on the fact that soft tissues respond to touch this type of massage is one of the most effective ways to prevent and treat muscle pain, soreness and injury.
